The Herzog Racing Hurricane Mono is back and even better!

The New Hurricane Mono from Herzog Racing

The Herzog Hurricane mono has been around for over a year now, but last fall production had been interrupted due to the heavy storms hitting the Louisiana area where the Hurricane mono was produced. Since then, Chris Herzog, owner of Herzog Racing Products (HRP is now under new ownership, see contact information at bottom), has gotten the hull back in full production. The Hurricane monos are now being produced by one of the industry's leading manufacturers. When we found out about this, we asked to see one of these new hulls up close.

Below are a few pictures of the hull we received from Herzog Racing Products. In my original Review of the hurricane Mono, I had expressed some concerns about the rigidity of the fibreglass, mostly in the cowl and top deck area. Although the original hull I had received from Herzog had a really nice overall finish and fit, it seems that the fibreglass work varied a lot from one hull to another. This appears to have been addressed in this new production Hurricane. The top deck of the hull is a little bit stiffer than the original but the cowl is where it is really noticeable. The cowl on this version is much more rigid than the past production. The build quality of this hull now really is comparable to some of the other well known manufacturers in the industry and buyers can expect much more consistency in the build quality from one hurricane to another.

As stated in my original review, I think the Hurricane is a great performer that is well suited to racers and sport boaters alike.

If you are looking for a new mono hull, I would recommend adding the Herzog Hurricane to your list!
