A look at these new engine mounts by Insane Racing and CC Racing Engines...

Choosing the right set of engine mounts for your boats -- which ones to buy? That is the question! Well, honestly there are many great mounts out there, and the bottom line, in my opinion is to find a design that works for you and stick with it. I for one have all my boats setup with the same types of mounts, so swapping engines from one boat to another is quite easy. I tried many types of mounts, even made my own, but I have really come to like CC Racing/Insane mounts.

These mounts are based on one of the most popular mounts on the market, with some well accepted modifications. The front plate has been made thicker, to avoid stripping out the pull-start screws. The coil bracket has been beefed up to avoid cracking at the bolt holes and the throttle bell crank bracket has been redesigned to end up flush with the bottom of the back plate. This allows the engine to sit lower and flat when you are shimming it for proper positioning in a hull. For anyone wanting to upgrade, these mounts will bolt directly into a boat that currently has Hypertorque mounts, they are a drop in.

Another option to the mounts that will be offered is a coil/throttle bracket designed to mount the grey coil behind the engine above the collet. This will come in handy in setups where there are clearance issues with the coil mounted on top of the starter.

Here are a few pics of the mounts as you will receive them. The kit includes front and back plates, coil relocating bracket, throttle bell crank and bracket, rubber isolators along with all necessary nuts and bolts, all of which are stainless steel.

These mounts are very strong and very functional. Simply loosen the four 7/16th nuts on the rubber isolators and the engine comes right out. Of course you have to detach your throttle linkage, gas line and drive cable if using collet drive but that applies for all types of mounts. The rubber isolators stay mounted on the rails in the hull, so basically, to use the same engine in several boats all you need to purchase for other hulls are the rubber isolators. The mounts are designed to fit between standard 5" rails and are also available in "drop mount" version for Vee bottom hulls.
