Coverage of the 2003 Gas Nationals in Atlanta...

The 2003 Gas Nats were held in Atlanta, GA on May 14-18. The race was hosted by the Atlanta Model Boaters club. - .ed

At the 2003 Gas Nats I was very impressed with the site that the Atlanta Model Boaters and District 13 members set up. Naturally Fresh donates the pond, and surrounding area to the club. They had large speakers set up through out the area so you could hear the CD when he called up heats.

The launch site was very impressive. Larry Kent from Atlanta Model Boaters built new stairs, rails and a handicap ramp for the launch site and it looks very good. There were many, many boats from all over the US and Canada. Atlanta Model Boaters & District 13 members ran the heats quickly and efficiently. I overheard one person from out of town saying to one of the Atlanta model boaters on the second day, "By now we would only would be on about heat 25 or 26." we were on heat 123.

All in all I had a great time, and would like to thank Naturally Fresh, the Atlanta Model Boaters, District 13 members, the sponsors and all who were involved.
