Tiger King 27cc Engine Making Waves

Tiger King's purpose built marine engine looks to be off to a good start:

- Four Bearing Crankcase
- 28mm Stroke X 35mm Piston
- Sleeved Cylinder
- Slotted Con Rod
- Light Weight Rotor

A current thread on JRCBD has some additional info.

Maybe TK's design pays a bigger compliment to QD than Zen ???

Edit: The four bearing description above is not how this motor was initially released. The plan for an improved
version is that there will be four bearings included at some point in the future.

Looks like the TK 2 bearings vs TK 4 bearings snafu got solved to some degree on JRCBD.

The only reason I edited the pic was a JRCBD subscriber posted that he had a TK and
it shipped with just the two main bearings. I kept looking at the raw pic and was
certain about the third bearing and was reasonably certain about the forth (smaller
bearing is fuzzy in original pic) so I labeled the bearings and posted it over here
to see if anyone knew for sure.

So, it looks like there *will* be a TK with four bearings and there *will* be a TK
crankshaft without tapered shafts in the near future but the TK motors currently being
sold do not include these features.

Isn't it true that the material TK selected for making their cylinder sleeve is critical
to the durability of this engine? So far I've not found anything describing the details
for the sleeve.

Some dyno results will be interesting as well. After all, isn't this the first 35mm piston
in a purpose built marine engine that can turn 21.5K RPM out of the box?

Clearly, there is some confusion as to this eng. When it first appeared in pics, it was shown and advertised with 2 open main inner brgs. and 2 sealed outer brgs. It was also stated that the upper RPM was 19K.

When Bruce started advertising/selling/distributing them, the upper RPM suddenly became 20K+, and now we see that the first customers are receiving them with 2 main brgs. and 2 rubber seals. And now, a new non tapered crank and 4 brgs. is forthcoming.

The "concept" of this eng. being a sleeved, purpose built marine eng. for under $400 is very good. The long term results/final product, may take a little while to evolve. But there are always a few that have to jump on the latest/greatest as soon as a picture appears. But hey, it's their choice.

I may still be confused on the details about the bearing issue - no big deal - these
facts will become obvious with time.

- 7.9 HP out of 27cc - not bad
- easily replaced steel sleeve is thicker but no description of metal type
- three displacement options
- Replacement Combustion chamber head 35mm for S-27 engine. Price: $38.95

This is good to know.
"Hi Bruce, the TK as of right now comes with a two bearing Crank, when you have the four bearing Crank ready will the Price increase? Or will that be a option when you order the TK?"
"Luis the TK will come with the 4 bearing when the cranks are ready at no extra cost. Now when they are ready any person that has a 2 bearing i will replace with new crank and the 2 extra bearings."

Now there is talk of a TK +1.6mm stroker crank that will be made available. Hmmm.
