jet surfboard project

I´m about to build a jet surf. Budget is around 1000 USD. I wonder if gas engine for RC boats/airplanes can be used.

I already build an electric surf board with propeller for my kids, but it doesn’t go very fast. Also battery is an issue…

Two learnings from my last build:
1. It needs gas engine 5-8kw with suitable narrow shape. I have seen 100cc gas engines used in RC airplanes for 500-600 USD. Original engine in Jetsurf is doing 8kw at 7500rpm. I don’t need exactly the same performance but 5kW+ will be nice. Any suggestions?

2. Needs to be jet. Propeller with engine under surfboard produce so much drag that it is barely planing. Can’t find suitable jet pump, seems that I will need to do it myself using mold and carbon fiber. Any ideas where to get small jet pump?

3. Hull shape. Majority of produced jet surfboards have traditional surf shape and are not willing to turn quickly. This on picture below is the most agile with different boat-like hull shape. What you think about more V shaped hull?

I will appreciate your suggestions, especial on engine/jet pump combination.
