Oil Brands - What is Everyone Using? was created by mitchesx
What kind of oil is everyone using in their fuel? I'm currently running Amsoil, may try Klotz sometime. I saw in RC Boat Modeler that some people were running Mercury Oil (or plugs?). What kind of ratio would you run with something lilke a Mercury Synthetic if indeed you could run it all? This may be an old topic - but I thought I'd put it out there. ???

I like to use Honda HP2 at 8oz per gallon. I like a good synthetic oil. You should remember though to break-in your motors with non synthetic oil to get the ring to seat properly.

I know people that run Mercury Quicksilver at the same ratio.

? I'm new to the hobby, in the past I've always been partial to Bel-Ray.
Good idea or bad?

Thanks Scott
I always used Bel-Ray in my Bultaco dirt bike and it was the best long before the new copy-cats, I wasn't sure about high temp boat use.

For high reving engines it is strongly recommended to use Honda hp2 racing oil. That comes from the makers of J&G engines and Quickdraw engines. J&G says 8-10 ounces per gallon depending on engine rpms. I am no expert on oils and use klotz in my stock zenoah at the recommended ratio, and apparently the hp2 oil is very good stuff for small high performance high reving engines or them guys would recommend something else thats alot less expensive. I don't know what the best is but I will run in my engines what is recommended. The Honda hp2 oil is a little pricey but I have a freind that works at honda and gets it at about cost, 16ounces cost me almost $6.00. RUSS

Second place is the first loser.

The Quickdraw and J&G engines have steel liners that really tend to wear rings out pretty fast. That is why they recommend the Honda HP2 at 10oz per gallon. I would recommend running at least a gallon of fuel through your Zenoah/Sikk/CY/RCMK style engine with a non-synthetic oil at 8oz per gallon before switching to a synthetic oil like Honda HP2. Just my opinion.
