Ryobi 30cc

HI

I have come across a Ryobi 30cc weed eater. I am planning on using it in a 48" very deep 'V'.

What would you guys recommend for a carb?

this project is from scratch, so I think it will take a while.

A carburetor that was always very popular with modified weedeater engines was the Walbro WA-167. If you can find one, I would try it. Scott probably knows some others that will work well also.

Honestly ... use the stock carb on the engine for now.
It would be pretty safe to say that Ryobi weed wackers are NOT high performance and simply adding a bigger carb in not going to wake it up to any degree you might see at this point. actually you have a greater chance of engine running worse if the after market carb fitted is not calibrated to work within the displacement CC's of the engine.

Spend your time, effort and money on building your new boat on just that ... the boat.
Once you get it all sorted out and running, address the engine performance issue then
** Yes the WA-167 is an excellent choice ( The OEM carb of the older Zenoah G230 engines )

Geta Walbro wa 167 carb it makes a night and day difference to a stock weedy,i gained a good 5 mph from doing that alone.Finding one may prove difficult though.

Yes,keep working on the hull, that advice is excellent. In the meantime I have a WA 167, albeit a modded one. If it is what you require send me an email and I will try to dig it up. I am in Bundaberg, Qld.

I have encountered another problem with the motor. I had dismantled it to clean it up and put it back together. It worked fine, I then replaced the spring that holds the choke open or half, not the motor will not run for more than a few seconds. Any ideas?

Ps. I noticed that it is has a half crank. Is this normal/ OK for a boat?

From what I have seen an awful lot of weedy motors are half cranks and yes you can use them in boats with no problems.

Remove carb again and make sure all intake maifold gaskets are positioned and installed correctly.
* if you went into carb ? .... make sure it is reassembled correctly.
4 screw cover (Metering side) gasket against carb body, then diaphragn, then cover.
1 screw cover (Pump side) diaphragm against carb body, then gasket, then cover.
