WT-929 tuning

So far today I've tried firing up 2 RCMK's and no luck with getting them to fire up. I've done about everything imaginable so far, fresh gas, checked for spark and checked the plug gap. One is a S-254 with a new piston and ring and the other is a spanking new Evo. I can tell that the Evo really wants to fire but won't, the S is iffy. The S also feels a little tighter than the Evo.
Rigght now I've got both carbs at 2 out on low and 1 out on high.
I've been through Carlo's thread on getting Zen's atarted but my arms and those of the kid are both tired from pulling these things over.
Man, these things are more cantankerous than I am!
Any help on these beasts?

All I can say is 'Man I hear ya." I fired my evo for the first time this past weekend. Ran it four times and it was a bear to start every time. I must have yanked it 35-50 times the first go around.

Getting the EZ start tomorrow. I'm really hoping this thing loosens up after a gallon cause my shoulder is sore just thinking about it. Runs great though.

One thing I can say is I think you are rich on the low and lean on the high based on recommendations from RCMK and Scott. Hoping Scott will chime in.

After I posted I thought of something in my "thinking" room that Kevin Sheren showed me last year that I'll try tomorrow, a shot of WD-40 down the carb.
Last year the two S-254's started rather well but not this year. I even pulled the cover off the one that had already been run last year to check the diaphragm to see if that was shot but it looked good.
I'm about ready to bolt some 257's on them if they don't fire tomorrow after trying the WD-40 trick.

I am not sure about using WD40, I have used an aerosol product called Aerostart it is an ether based product, it is an old can so I guess it is still available. You still have to be very cautious using this type of stuff as it is highly flamable and be frugal in it's use, to much is WAY TOO MUCH

The thought of using a starting fluid crossed my mind but quickly passed. I don't know what it is about using WD-40 as it is something that a lot of boaters do keep handy but it worked several times last year when the motors didn't want to fire. You only need a quick shot to make it work.
Buying anything ether-based this time of the year will get you funny looks at the auto parts store or anywhere in this part of the country.

Point taken. I live in Oz so things arn't quite as strict here. If the WD40 works for you go for it.

The problem is that ether is one of the ingredients used in making an illegal drug here in the States and the county where I live has the dubious distinction of being the capital in Michigan for the manufacture of that drug. It makes it tough for those who want to use it for a legitimate purpose. I don't think that I'd want to use it in a RCMK anyway.
We'll find out in the morning (it's 12:33 in the AM here right now) and I've probably already gotten the neighbors mad at me after firing up the nitro burners in the front yard 2 days ago.

No problem, it's an old can as I said before, maybe it is not available here any more either. Maybe they might have somthing else available. I am sure if we hunt around we might find something. Otherwise let us know how the WD40 works.

Hi guys i have 5 evos and they are modded and they start first pop every time on the stock 929 its 1 1/4 low and 1 1/8 high and with 257 i set mine at around 1 3/4 low and 1 high it also depends on the amount of oil you run with fuel every engine has a slight difference but these settings work for me hope this helps guys.

Len, I'm very worried about running mine at that setting. The last time that I ran one at 2 on low and 1 on high I blew a piston. Dom't want to go through that again.
