Air gap on Zen?

How crucial is the air gap on a G23 Zen with slight mods??? Some post say use a business card,some say just pull it up off the flywheel as far as it will go????! What is the ideal air gap and what to measure it with???feeler gages?? thanks in advance

If you go to the Resources section of this site, under ENGINES, you can find the manuals for all popular Zenoah engines...you can find the proper gap specs for yours there. Personally, I just crank up the coil as high as it will go. It's always worked for me. I used to do the business card thing...that works too. They don't seem too sensitive on that from my experience anyway.

I appreciate that bit of info, I didn't think it was all that crucial either....probably will work most any position as long as it is not rubbing the flywheel......

The most important thing is to make the gap big enough so you don't get flywheel strikes. This is mostly a high rpm problem, but a big gap doesn't seem to hurt performance.
