Another Warpath for Dist 2

Ran the rigger today. No one brought props so we had very little to try.
The engine wasn't running right at rpm. Probably an air leak from rotating the fuel barb.
Any how, glass like water, box stock 2716, 20 deg prop, poor running engine.
67.7 mph on GPS. This boats gonna go.
Should have my 3014 for next week.
Butch's boat looked about the same, we didn't GPS his, and he had exaust problems.

Turns on a dime with the rudder on the right, Butch had an extended rudder and his didn't react any differently.

Sorry to hear you guys had engine issues...but nice to hear they ran ok anyways! The cornering of the Warpath is one of it's positive characteristics, seems to corner great with rudder on left or on right! I run it on left myself. Just a personal preference. With the right prop and engines running ok, you should be looking at a 75 or so in heat trim. Keep us posted if you get a chance to go back!

Found my engine problems. Leaky fuel filter.
Had a few runs today. Running an M&D full mod, engine likes to rev, I had 68.6mph with a stock 2716/20 deg prop.
Only got 66mph with the 3014 cut rounded and cupped. May have run better with a pipe adjustment.
The boat drives like on rails, going to get better with more set-up and right prop combo.
Any prop suggestions Marc.

im not Marc, but my Warpath with CC Beast Motor ran 73mph run after run with a stock just s/b 2818/2. 75-76mph with a lightly modded 2818/2. Near 80 with a 2920/2.

I like the 28-29 series props with more pitch over the 30 series big wheels with not much pitch myself.

I have had very good success with Austin 3016s and now the new 7316 from Daily. I haven't had a chance to try any of Will's props. The boat really seems to run well with several different props but these seem to be at the top right now from the feedback I've been getting and my own testing. A 3014 should take you in the 70s but needs some added pitch and cup.

Can you tell me what your strut is set at as opposed to the bottom of the rear shoes ( to bottom of strut), and also how your rear boom tube is shimmed ( assuming you used the supplied hardwood block under the tube).

If you're going to use stainless nuts on stainless screws, use a little anti sieze or you will have the same problem again.

Was running a 1/16 shim, smooth water. aaaaaaaand the bottom of the strut is still 1 inch off bottom of the boat.

Try running the strut a little bit lower go down 1/16 at a time. I like mine about 1/8" under the shoes. You dont want to be dragging the shoes in the water needlessly it will knock off 2-3 mph easy. 1/16 shim at the rear tube sounds ok for calm water, it might work without any shim at all. If you haven't tried that try it. Do one change at a time and see what it does. I'm thinking in calm water with the strut deeper you will get away with no shim at the rear tube...add shims when it gets rougher. Shimming the rear tube tightens the boat.

Got the Warpath out once more before the weather changes.
Had a few props to try, mostly raw unsharpened props.
M@D full mod, hot pipe, 1/16 boom tube shim. Rear strut about 1/8 below rear shoes.
The bigger diameter props needed the strut raised a little to stop cavitation or whatever causes the motor to load and unload.
50 K wind gusts, boat drove like on rails. I cut about 1 inch off the rudder and didn't need any extra input.

I ran a raw 7016/20 last week at around 68mph
Sharpened and ballanced it ran 70.2 mph

3014 sharp, ballanced, cupped, bar cut, 70.8mph Alittle longer pipe and higher strut might help this prop.

raw 2916 turned 70.2

raw 2816 ran 73.3mph
raw 2818 hooked the boat to the right so I couldn't run it.

The last 2 props have lots of potential.

After pulling the flex shaft I noticed the brass flex tube was split on the end.
the tube is only 3/4 from collet, but 1/4 past the stuffing tube , thats where it split ?
