Thanks to Smoke and Andy.

Am I back again? Not sure. But my son is getting a little pushy, and has declared that he soon will buy a radio (remote control) suitable for a model helicopter (which he says he is "planning to buy") AND (obviously) ALSO suitable for a modelgasboat too. B)
(Well - I can take a hint, when it hits my forehead, and will try to act according).
The question is: What radio/remote is best?
I think Futuba. But what Futuba? How many channels? What extra functions? Going for a straight functional NO-NONSENSE (and not too pricy) model.
Any recommendations of what Futuba model could be the best?

Help and advice is really needed here.

Cheers! :cheer:

Hey guys!

Nobody in a MGB forum has any recommendation about what good radio / remote to buy?
My blessed son stands ready to draw his "big fat wallet", but he really wants some good advice before he starts spending his bucks. ;)

Someone please give me some advice. Maybe with a link to the retailer.

Cheers! :cheer:

Added later: Hold your horses!

My son went berzerk and purchased this slightly used Futaba 14MZ with all accessories:

I guess this one should do the job :P

Hi Randy.

I am ready now, and so is my workshop. Right now all I need is my son to come and finish the setup of the Blata and gearbox to the engine rails, that Steve Seebold made for me.
When this is done, I can get on with installing the whole shabang to the bottom of a hull filled with spants/profiles.
Pictures of this WILL follow! (Radio stuff comes later).

Cheers! :cheer:

News!

It's all in progress now. My son is assembling Steve Seebolds custom made engine rails.
With slow progress, with a lot of care and tweaking, and with a very high grade of precision - as his pride can't take less than perfection.
Not finished yet - but very soon. I promise.
Pictures of a complete engine frame with the Blata Engine, MHZ gearbox and "Steve Seebold custom made engine rails & fittings" will follow in a few days.
(Wait for pictures before commenting) :)

Cheers! :cheer:

Added after 4 days.

My son completed the basics on the engine frame. Details are not made not made yet due to him participating in some before-christmas partys, w. some following headaches putting him out of work ;)
And now he is going sailing again... :S
While he is overseas, I will try to make a setup with the engine and frames put on a wooden test-bench without the last details. Just to show that we are moving forward.
Side-rails on the test-bench will later be used as side-rails in the boat - carrying the engine and the engine frame from Steve Seebold.
As said: Be patient: Pics will follow.

Cheers! :cheer:

No offense but you said same thing over a year ago (page 26) ... Good thing Steve posted the rails then so we had some idea what they looked like.

I'll check back in a few months and see if you posted any pictures yet. Winter now no boat time here in Canada -- eh

No offence taken, Randy.
You are right. A picture says more than a thousand words. ;) So here comes. Some fittings still need to be attached. You see some of them on the table.
I allready have the old wooden rails, which fit the boat fine, but as said I am about to make a new set with a better design. A set to be used as a test bench in the beginning.
And you know what?..... "Pics will follow" :woohoo:

Cheers!
