How do I get rid of that stupid little bird that is always in the way when I am reading something?

It shouldn't be in the way at all...it should be floating on the extreme right of your screen. Where is it on your screen? What are you using to browse? Give me some details so I can look into this please.

I am useing windows xp and usually have it set at 125% as I find it easier to read. It is on the right side of the screen about1 3/4 inches in to the screen if I don't enlarge any thing

That sounds about right...just about where I put it!!! I hope it's not bothering too much...it may be worse because of the resizing you do...but I've tested on several browsers and screens and it seemed to stay out of the way. To answer your question straight forward though, you can't get rid of it. Sorry. Maybe I will move it or change that somehow but for now that seems like the best way to have it there, yet keep it out of the reading zone. I you have suggestions for placement though, please share them...Constructive feedback is always good.

I will be working on a new layout soon, so I'll keep the little bird in mind!
