For you Aussies - What Hull Is This?

David McIntyre created the topic: For you Aussies - What Hull Is This?

Guys,
I've had this for years. Ran an OS40 in it.
Bought from a Christchurch dealer, and was apparantly a Aussie made hull.
It's at least 19 years old. Blue flake gelcoat with white bottom.

Hi Mate,
That circle with the "Full Ahead" stamp was put out by a company called believe it or not Full Ahead.
I think they are now trading under another name but not sure. They were a cheaper manufactuer or should I say built more for the beginner (entry level) I think they were located in Sydney but don't quote me on this.
Hope this helps. Some one else might be able to help more.

David,
Further to above. These products are handled by Adelaide Boat Centre, I think it is www.adelaideboatcentre.com.

Thanks Graeme,

Somehow I knew that it would be you that answered.

Good info. I'll see if they know anything about this old hull.

Ok, tell us how you get on. I think it was for a 40 glow engine? Not really sure.

Yeah, I originally had a K&B 35 (aircraft engine) with home made watercooled head.
Then an OS 40 till I blew it up, then a K&B 3.5cc engine off a outboard.
That really flew - literally.
As the hull is totally flat at the back it was pretty useless in any waves, would bounce all over the place, but in totally flat water it would fly. It sort of has 2 ride pads at the rear so is like a 3mm tunnel hull.

Probably going to make it electric, for the kids, and a retrieval boat.

I have an OPS.45 here that would make that hull go! ;)
Was wondering about the flatbottom rear
Dont some of the Europeans run very shallow V's on thier offshore style races?
Nice hull anyway, always love the flakes on rc hulls. B)

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Hi Oz, Yes the OPS would make it fly.
It did go well in flat water, i.e. no good for racing.
We used to run on lake Avimore in the South Island so had miles of empty water for the model boats. Used to get too keen and lose radio contact all the time, but luckely they always seem to keep going straight till they ran out of fuel.
I was thinking electric with a Graupner or similar outdrive.
The new 20cc Zen would be fun as well, although how much will they cost when they get here. I'm looking around to see if there are any old small trimmer motors, although they all seem too big, so petrol will probably be out.
