Drive Dog

Scott replied the topic: Re: Drive Dog

We are talking about once you determine WHERE on the stub shaft you will be placing the prop drive dog, you mark the spot on stub where the SET SCREW of dog will be, then filing a small flat for the screw to index on.
*The rest is explained in my original post ;)

I try and get away with using the Aeromarine or Gizmo 7/16" SS single set screw dogs on my single engine gasers, but do suffer breakage every so often while racing.

Just finished putting together the strut/cable/dog for the twin rigger and went the route of using the H.D. Octura 1/2" 2 screw drive dog.
Dog is @ 1/16" larger in diameter that strut housing so leading edge of dog has been rounded so water impacting it creates minimal drag.

Wow, Dog drive mania
The reason I didn't say anything about his shaft was it was already cut. Look at pic one. I just make sure the set screw has a small indent on the shaft. I reset it a few times to get that small circle on the flat part on the shaft. Some setscrews are made with a point on the end. some have a circle. Just stay away from any Aluminum DD,they strip the treads Happy boating
