Chinese Cat

tasman created the topic: Chinese Cat

G'day guys, just bought this chinese cat, seems to be based on a Stryker Cat, costs around $779 US. Not tried in water yet but everything seems to work ok, 26cc engine, octura prop. Please look at photo's and give any advice, criticism etc as you guys know boats and I don't. Holidays next week so will try in water.

Ya man, That does look like my stryker cat. Mine runs GREAT! I would suggest using a gas bag instead of the hard tank. Just a cleaner look and a little lighter. No biggy though.

:S No comment ... Chinese copying and there general conduct of taking other manufacturers products with no R and D of their own just pisses me off

But that said, I cannot change the way it is by not liking it.

Best of luck on your first and future running :woohoo:

Yeh Piratefish, I'd say they copied the Stryker. Time will tell if it goes like one though. Will post photo's of it running when I have got it wet.

Point taken Scott, they seem to be copying everything these days. It may well turn out to be a pile of junk but as a mate said, it is a good starting point.

[img] Hi Tasman, I've just bought ( here in Cape Town South Africa), what looks like the same boat you have, except mine is just the hull and hardware. So far all I've done is to strip all the hardware off the hull as I first want to strengthen the stringers inside the hull. I'm attaching a few photos which also show the canopy that came with my hull, I dont see a canopy in your photos. I've seen the first boat like mine run here with a standard Zenoah but with a very special pipe that's made here for this cat, and the boat ran flat and very fast ! Around 90 kilos per hour. I also attach a photo that shows this pipe.
Keep in touch, I'd like to hear how yours runs.
Cheers,
Wennie.

Im with you there Scott! It is was it is... I try not to support copies but sometimes some people can not afford the real thing. I know THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT.
