Stingers and Struts

BMAC created the topic: Stingers and Struts

I am going to be building an Aeromarine XXX Mono. I have ordered the complete kit with hardware. However I also have the Speedmaster "Old Style" Stinger Drive that I would like to use instead of the strut. I've been studying Marc's XXX build on the website, but can't seem to wrap my head around how the flex shaft and ferule fit into the strut. The stinger I know is a different animal, not sure how the stuffing tube should attach, what type of bearing is inside.. ect. I guess if someone could dumb these things down a little for me it would be appreciated. Or if there is a resource with a detailed drawing of the 2 drive systems as a cross sectional view that would be great.

Thanks........

Check out these articles...should explain a bunch! The cables I use don't have a ferule and square at engine end... they have the stub shaft welded to the flex and round end at engine. Engine has a collet that compresses onto the cable to hold it. :)
