A local shop has PVC sheeting in different thicknesses and I was wondering if anyone on here has tried to use this as a building material for boats?
With plastic welding and glues I was thinking of giving it a go. No waterproofing to worry about so a saving in materials I thought might be worth it? :sorry:

Never tried it myself...I guess it could work as a replacement for thin ply.

The stuff I was looking at is UV resistant and comes in different thicknesses. They use it for signs etc.
Looking through thier suppliers catalouge, it comes in just about every shape and form you can imagine!

Structurally the plastics just don't have enough stiffness by them self's IMO. There is a product I have used for years that you can get as thin as .015" and up to 4" that is super stiff and really tough. That would be G-10 epoxy laminate :good:
