For a beginner I strongly recomend you have a look at the warehouse hobbies line of boats. You will get great service and a well priced product. Having a chat with them would also help you get headed in the right direction.

I know they (ware house hobby) are running a great special on the Gator. I had one and I really liked it. It will make a great first boat. Super reliable, fun and a realistic look on the water. Plus Tony is so helpful and talks to you like someone who is still learning the difference between a drive dog and a stuffing tube. Nothing goes over your head and he will help with any problem on the phone.
