Homelite carbs?

DirtySnip12 created the topic: Homelite carbs?

I was wondering what carbs you could throw on a stock 2005 homelite 25cc to get some more power. Also, what else could i do?

Best carb hands down on mod homelites was the stock carb off the original Zenoah G230's. It is the Walbro Wt-167A and has a 9/16" butterfly bore and 7/16" venturi bore. They work outstanding on them.

As for power gains, sadly your @10 years to late on there being much in hop up parts or info around any more. There was a lot doing work on the homelites years past, but as the other engines evolved in design, power & compactness the homelites slowly were around less and less. Not to sound like a downer, just the fact of the matter R/C boating here in 2010.

Thanks for the carb info but, there are a lot of vids on youtube where people modded these engines. Water cooling heads, Porting, tuned pipes, and timing. I got this engine for free as well as the one in my profile pic. What's wrong with a builder on a budget. I am not going to spend $500 for a racing engine to enjoy the hobby.

Budget builds are great ... just stating facts my friend.
If you can source the info off the web and find parts, go for it !!

If your Homelite is one of the newer ones with a slanted crankcase,it might not run very well.I've read a few reviews of users of the weekeaters and they say they are junk. The older ones are pretty good and there are alot of places online that have parts for them,if you look hard enough.I found a guy locally that has a stockpile of Homelite parts as well as for other weedeater engines and chainsaws. As Scott said the WA 167 is the best for a stock Homey or another carb of the same size.I have three Homelites, a Ryobi/Homelite modded 30cc,a modded 25cc made into a full crank, and a stock watercooled 30cc,which is going to get modded by chipbreakr on JRCBD.The Ryobi 30cc has a WT 387, on it which is a 12.7 venturi and runs quite well. The others have WA 167's.You can modd it,water cool it ,stuff the crankcase, lighten the flywheel and piston. You can get water jackets, headers, manifolds, mounts and tuned pipes for them at www.majorsmackdown.com
I've had Zenoah 260 and Sikk marine engines in boats, but I like the Homelites for fun boats. If I was racing that would be different,I'd go with the Zens and the newer engines.I have a new Zen 260 on the shelf that was supposed to go into a thunderboat that I was building ,but didn't finish.Maybe someday I'll use it.If you need some parts you can't find ,contact me and I'll see if my local supplier has them

I have an old time v-hull with a Homelite. It starts every time, runs good, not a fast screamer. But, it impresses people wanting to get in the hobby.
Scott is right, if you want to go fast, it will take some investment. I've spent some money on other boats, but when they don't run, I always fall back on "old reliable" v-hull Homelite.

Thanks a lot ridgerunner. It doesn't have the slanted crankcase so i think i am alright. It was my dad's weed whacker 2 days ago and he couldn't get it to idle so he pitched it, but I saw a project. Now it idles like a v-8. Thanks again you saved me some headaches.

Your right Captain Hook. My profile pic has a 26cc craftsman, starts in 1 pull every time but does around 23mph.
