Jumpy Jittery Radio -gotta love it! Any ideas?

Decided to go thru my rigger (havent run it in a LONG time), and checked the radio. Have a JR XS3 FM Synth radio in the boat. Throttle works fine by itself. Turn the rudder, and the throttle jumps, twitches, and glitches. Does the same thing when you hold full throttle, and turn the rudder. For reference, this is not with the motor running. I eliminated the switch by plugging the battery (6V NiMh) into the reciever, and also the failsafe by removing that. I have an HiTech aggressor that I am going to use on another project, so I swapped out the reciever. No glitching... Thought the story ended there. I added the failsafe and switch - and tested the failsafe by turning off the transmitter. Everything onboard goes crazy! Removed the failsafe and had the same result. The LED on the failsafe flashes red/green when it is attached to the throttle servo with the radio off while everything is jumping around. When I turn the radio on, it calms down. I'm thinking the XS3 receiver is bad, and I'm not sure why the HiTech radio is having problems... Any ideas???

Start swapping stuff. Start with the battery. Try another known good one just to eliminate that. Try different servo combinations. It really is the simplest way in such situations...process of elimination. :)

Read your post and forgot that I had the radio out of the cat so I can switch to the Avenger... Tried the rudder with the throttle servo out of the Cat, same response, tried the rudder servo from the cat with the throttle from the rigger, ditto, and then tried the cat servos together, same result. Tried with both batteries.... bzzzzz Thank you for playing.... I'm thinking two bad recievers..... ugh. Oh well. Oh and I forgot to mention that I have two other boats on the XS3 - and they seem to work fine.

So have you tried a receiver from one of those boats that work fine? Pretty odd that you have 2 bad receivers, but it does happen.

The XS3 receiver has sat for two years.... the other took a dunk... So its quite possible... Never a fun thing.... I'll take the reciever out of the t-boat and see if it has any issues...

Anyone know if HiTech's HTS-03MT receiver has any issues with 6 volt batteries? I checked out Tower- and they list a 4.8 volt.... Not going to work in our application too little juice!

edit -nevermind - checked their website- manuals page- 4.8 - 6v. All good.
