What would be a good/average sponson depth from the bottom of the hydro hull?

Hi Oz,
I presume you are talking about the Starwars (I guess that is what it is for) hydro? I usually run mine (depending on overall lenght)approximatly 18-22-25mm depth. For an approx 1 metre (39.5inches) I use 18-22mm (around 3/4 inch) for longer approx 22-25mm (just under an inch).
These are the measurements I usually build to for an outrigger, others vary slightly. BUT for your Starwars design I cannot tell how it will work out. You may have to even go deeper but it has every chance of reaching for the stars. I would wait for a few more ideas before going ahead. Unless you have plenty of time and foam.

I presume you are asking about FRONT sponsons, not the small ones most run on the rear.
Also this is one of a million problems that arise when building a completly new design. Some of the regular things work, most don't, so you cannot always go by rule of thumb.
