Questions you would like answered in a new article about getting started in model boats.

CC Racing Engines created the topic: Questions you would like answered in a new article about getting started in mode

Guys,
I am about to get started on a new article that I would like to see help new boaters that are getting started in the hobby. This idea came to me from Denny Cantavespri the owner of Rampage Boats. He told me he had visited Model Gas Boats and read most of the articles and still was lost about a lot of things. I have a lot of ideas about what needs to be written, but would like input from actual new boaters and what you would like to learn about.

Get me some input and we will try to get all the questions answered.

Thanks in advance
CC

Hi CC.

As you must have observed, this site - and most others, have articles about Zenoah setups and tuning.
What I miss is some article about Blata engine mounting and setup. This stuff is very hard to find.
I plan to buy the Blata 40 (39 cc, 13,4 hp) for my mono.

Cheers! :cheer:

I don't think doing specifics on engines like the Blata is the intent here. This would be near impossible do to without having done one up ourselves. I know I've never touched these engines, and I don't think CC have either (I could be wrong though).

I talked with Carlo last night and the intent is to put together a series of articles to help new boaters, whether sport boaters or guys wanting to get into racing, get into the hobby and cover the basics of what they need to know to get on the right track to successful builds. For example, little things like choosing a good radio, different drive setups, tuning tips, etc.

Maybe somewhere along the lines we can cover stuff like the Blata engines if someone that has experience with them would like to contribute...that would be great!

Great idea Carlo BTW... I am sure a lot of new guys coming into the hobby will appreciate this kind of articles.

Hi Marc.

It's a hard life to be the "blata-guy" in a world dominated by Zenoahs.
But my hope is that some unknown blata-guy jumps out of the closet to share some experience about the Blatas, if CC is not able to do so.

Just wishing and hoping... ;)

Cheers! :cheer:

hey carlo although I'm not new I do remember when i was. you mentioned drive set ups, I think a good one would be strut settings and how they differ in the affect raising & lowering the strut has on a mono or a cat compared to a hydro, with hull additude & engine performance.

I know I might be flogging a dead horse here!
I would say at least around 70% of people who would like to get into this hobby simply cant afford to go out and buy a Zenoah engine for starters!
I would love to see what Carlo could do with the old budget Homelite engine! :woohoo:
This obviously wouldnt apply to someone who is approaching this hobby with the intent to get into racing as we all know racing takes money.
Just dont want to see a heap of plug and play articles with lots of shiney expensive stuff off the shelf, if you know what I mean?

Sticking up for the little guy,
Chad. ;)

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

cool idea

do some Homie's - stick them in some inexpensive hulls with set limits

keep 'em real inexpensive and simple

do some simple set up - step by step stuff with utube video's

show how they run

then Give 'em to someone new to hobby

I'd be in to that and would be willing to do one - I usually do one every year here anyways

Wanted to see what a Homie would do in a Rockett kit anyways

Cool idea

It's not a Rockett kit, but I'm willing to donate my Shockwave hull if y'all are interested in doing this!!! I have about 20 weedies in the garage, if this works out... I've got more motors than I could use... speaking of motors Scott and Carlos, I'll throw one of those in for the project too!!! B) Just let me know....
