ZippKits Rockett Thunderboat - Setup Tips

mitchesx created the topic: ZippKits Rockett Thunderboat - Setup Tips

Hi everyone! I have a Rockett T-boat that has a hop in the corners... Tried adjusting the angle of my fin to see if it would help and it hadn't. Looking for some setup tips to try next season or this winter if we have some warm days. The prop is a 6518/3. The video quality isnt that great, but the commentary by my son was priceless! First one's a little long, but running with a dumas Circus Circus converted to gas that is almost 5 lbs lighter, I can hold my own!

Hi Mitch,
Just asking is it the correct turnfin? As because if it is too long it will lift the right sponson. Depends how much it is too long to how high it lifts. Worth a check. Some times it might just be mounted too low.

Cant see the turnfin in either vid before the launch.
It could be as simple as swapping for one with less taper. ;)

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

I hadnt taken any shots of the turnfin guys, sorry... I'll see if I can get one and post it up here. Its mounted in the location that Zippkits gives you, and it its the fin that comes with the kit. Not sure how familiar anyone might be with that.... Per the setup instructions on their site, (and Joe's recommendation) I drilled out the rear bottom hole to .175 & adjusted it forward with no real improvment. Thanks guys!

6518 has a lot of lift ... try different props.
6717/3 or 7016/2 will be smoother IMO

I have both, Scott. I'll give them a try. The 6518 was a recommedation from Joe, and his setup insturctions on the site are for that prop. I originally had a 270 on it, I had a little hop then, but no where near the speed or RPM as I do with the 6518.
