I use same mounts in pic and found shorter rubbers so it will be 4 5/8 wide
I'm hoping to use them on my wood boat build -
I use them lots - 4 top screws and they come out easy so thought I'd use carb too

Hi CHR

I hope I am not going off topic in my reply here as you did ask for general comments etc:

The only part of this set up that would concern me is the bell crank set up for the throttle linkage (neatly engineered though it appears).

I had a similar set up on my Walbro 644 carb which relied upon the small return spring to close the throttle after backing off the servo. The butterfly valve in my carb started sticking resulting in me not being able to close the throttle while on the lake.

I have since changed the set up such that I now have the bell crank mounted horizontally with a piano wire connection from the bell arm to the throttle lever.

That way if the return spring should fail or if the butterfly valve should stick a little, I can be confident of using the servo to close the throttle valve. I feel much safer with my current set up.

Cheers
Craig

One of the problems with the 33's I have is that the spring is very strong so I'm not worried for these I actuaaly ordered metal servos for these 2 kits

On my boats (I do have 2 with this system the rest are some what similar to yours) I never had a issue (yet) u could add another return spring if u wanted

Most my carbs have Ron Buck stainless shafts and have been 'played with' I check them pretty regular - they open smooth as silk with no sticking or galling (I polish pieces too)

Quite often the issue is 'how your carb is set up to start with'

Hi CHR

I appreciate you including the you tube clip. I very much liked that set up. Thanks for your reply.

The issue I had with the sticking butterfly valve was that there was a little bit of play in the shaft holding it meaning that in very little time the circular disk ground away a tiny bit of the alloy housing causing a little groove sufficient for it to sick partly open under certain conditions. The condition was I am sure made worse with the original vertical bell crank (similar as in the opening photo) because at open and closed throttle positions the lever exerts a small pull/push force on the shaft holding the circular disk valve.

It is difficult to explain and would be difficult to photo. However I ditched the carb and replaced it as I could not see how to dismantle these parts and get them back together especially retaining the screw (holding the circular disk on the shaft) in a secure manner (once removed).

Interesting topic.

Cheers
Craig
