offshore warrior

ady created the topic: offshore warrior

Hi

All just purchased a offshore warrior from joysway/e bay lol it's got a standard 26cc cy engine with a naff square box exhaust im wanting to change this for a tuned pipe what would be a good tuned pipe to fit these days as ive kinda been out of touch with model boat's for about 6 year's. Are the ally pipe's as good as a stainless steel pipe ive never had much to do with zenoah engines loosely speaking of the chung yan engine which ive read about on this site. Mainly mathe engines and cmb nitro engines.I also want to change the standard prop which is 78 dia and 1.4 pitch i thought maybe a octura x470/2 would be a starting point if the cy engine can swing it. Thanks Ady

Send links or pics to the boat if you can...

Any good pipe will work fine on the CY. Hotpipes are a very common choice these days as are the CC Powermaster aluminum pipes and the CC Steel. There are others of course, most of them should work just fine. The alum pipes seem to work better in boats with hatches enclosing engine and pipe inside. In open applications, one or the other will do...I prefer the steel pipes when I can use them.

Can't help with prop...don't know what the boat is. :)

Hi
Marc
Thanks for reply here is a link to the boat www.joysway-hobby.com/product.asp?Nclassid=81 mines the black and yellow mono above is the red and black one short vid of it running with tuned pipe tried to contact joysway to find out what pipe they use and what else they have done from the standard cy engine as mines got a round water jacket and the cheepo exhaust. And i prefer steel pipes as well as they resernate better than the ally one's and perform better. I cant seem to find a steel pipe thats a quiet pipe been on cc racing site from a link on here what a site lol wish we had place's like that in the uk they all seem to be ally pipes.

Hi Ady

If you are UK resident like me, I would recommend Prestwich Model Boats for a decent pipe and plenty of other good components:

Hopefully this link should take you to that section of his web site:

I agree, Prestwich would be a good source.

For props, I would try the one they supply and some other good starter props include the 470, 570, 7016/2 and a few ABC's like the G20, G25, MW3...there are so many props...it's hard to know what to start with. With a new unknown boat it's basically just trial and error unfortunately. This does resemble some of the Warehouse Hobbies boats and they like to supply theirs with props like the 570 for starting out.
