Thanks Matho
Problem is -- if u don't belong to Jim's u can not see link

Here is what is on Matho's post --- he has done this already

it works......
engine: MOUSE HOUSE with RCMK-tops of first lot, slightly modded.
cooling flanges: my own, see my webside
header tubes: 0.5mm stainless steel, outer dia 22mm, by a german dealer, connected via laser welding and hard soldering by myself
header itself: water injection, 0.8mm nozzle
pipe: modified german stainless steel pipe

Note: center distance of MOUSE HOUSE is the smallest world wide as I know, RCMK and MTC twin do have a larger one. That means that my 2in1 headers do not fit these brands, other dealers or manufacturers should think about a production, a water injection is definitely a must due the doubled energy thru the pipe and the pipe must have a bigger volume to handle the increased volume (increased by water / steam).

Yes! thanks MATHO...
how much bigger should the header be for allow water injection since water expandes 1700 times from liquid to vapor?

my new 2in headers have an inner diameter of 21mm.
This diameter will work but a normal pipe with diameters of 50 or 55mm won't work. My new pipe has a diameter of 65mm (meeting point of the 2 cones) and 60mm at the damper section and is a bit shorter than usual because the header must be a bit longer.

I will post pics later....

WOW! That is perfect!
Matho, will you be offering this pipe for sale on your site?
I would also be interested in buying a pair of the 30 degree water cooled header flanges if you can confirm mounting compatibility to the RCMK K600.

As it stands now it is the only, I am guessing 55-60cc, wet pipe I have ever seen.

I believe that I can have the headers made to match the RCMK K600S that I am drooling to get my hands on and use in my boat. But that exhaust pipe im sure no one I know of could fabricate with the performance and knowledge you obviously have on rc boats.

My rough guess is that the pipe shown is about 12-13inches long which would be most perfect for my use.

Question: are you using 90, 100, or 105 bend pipe to make the headers shown?

I was thinking that maybe you could sell this 2into1 header as a kit, and let the end buyer do the header cutting and welding due to angles and custom installs? I would buy one!

Possibly could be used to lighten the quad pipe "rat" to a twin exhaust rat and save on weight too.

to everybody who is interested in a kit: please give me a mail to:

Makes only sense if you are able to hard solder the parts.

Hi Guys
I’ve found this topic fascinating despite the fact that I have zero knowledge of twin cylinder in line engines. The images of the set ups look great with some neat work.

However forgive my total ignorance but two questions or concerns spring to mind:

1 Am I right to assume that the two engine pistons are in sync such that all ports open and close at the same instant? If not I’d wonder how a single tuned pipe could work properly.

2 Am I right that by “wet pipe” it means that the cooling water if fed directly into the exhaust chamber? If so does that not cause any problems with water vapours getting back into the combustion chamber during operation?

Forgive me if I am asking silly questions here.
Your responses will be much appreciated as I have lots to learn.
Cheers
Craig

Craig, silly questions never exist, only silly answers.....

Answer to 1):
A twin fires in 180degrees, that means: if piston 1 is at top end position, piston 2 will be at the low end position. Pipe performance depends on exhaust timing.....

Answer to 2a):
yes

Answer to 2b):
no, pressure flows back but not the water (due to the exhaust timing)

Add:
the exhaust timing is the most important point, mass produced RCMK S254Evo or ZENOAH 260PUM have it.
