To air scoop or vent? or both?

smokeater2005 created the topic: To air scoop or vent? or both?

I just wanted to see what everybody thinks about using air scoops vs vents vs both?

i have seen the MHZ scoops and vents...
and i saw this interesting home made air scoop that i am really thinking about making myself... see pic below

Tell me what you guys have found to be the best in terms of need versus looks?

You ABSOLUTELY DO want air flow under the decks. Exhaust system heat thins the air engine breaths and will kill power !!
** #1 rule of thumb is 1 to 3 ratio of intake/outlet so that hulls internal space DOES NOT buffet with air pressure fluctuations :S .... So for whatever area you have getting the air in you want 3X the area for it to get out !

The carbs used are pumper types and rely of operating within an atmospheric neutral space free of pressure rises, falls or pulsing influences.

Scott,
Wow, man you give some of the best information while keeping all your advise open and non limiting of the creativity of those the advise is for.

Thanks for the most helpful information!!!

If you could check out my post in the build and pictures section and maybe offer advise on an outdrive based on my planned list of parts I would be quite happy!
