Need help on a new boat purchase...

Nightow1 created the topic: Need help on a new boat purchase...

I just need to know if this would be a decadent combo for a starter, new to gas boater..
here are the links to the engine and the hull. if someone knows of a place to get them a little cheaper PLEASE let me know I dont have a lot of money to start with.
oh and what would be the better choice for a Carburetor: Walbro WT 644 or WT 257 or WT 257 big bore

50" fibre-glass deep v hull

Zenoah G260PUM

Also I will be using a duel rudder for this hull..

Thank you all in advance for any help...

So what about the hull. I was also looking at mountain hobbies. Any one had any dealings with them?

Hi
In respect of the engine I don’t think you’ll go far wrong with the Zenoah 260PUM.
I don’t know about that particular hull although it does remind me of my Prestwich Lynx.
If you are completely new to the Gas boat scene it might be worth while as I did, opting for a package deal. The advantage for me of doing this was that I got practically all of the bits needed except the radio gear and it was comforting to know that the hardware was correct for the boat and of decent quality.

Here is the link to the Lynx I bought 2 years ago and still a good boat. I opted for Deal 1:

OK here is what I have so far. I'm going with a ZENOAH PUM290 28.5 cc with a 257 carb, Zenoah Easy Start Handle, Expresscraft 70" Apache, BONZI' Enforcer Deluxe Clutch with 4-point rubber engine mount, and My duel rudder system. Now I know I have missed a lot so chime in here I dont want to forget anything. I could use some thoughts on exhaust, servo's, and where to get this darn tank??
Any help would be great, I welcome opinions good or bad. Thanks

That tank is nice but way over complicated. If you are running a vented system I would run a Sullivan or Dubro tank with a gas conversion stopper. You can get one of them for under $20.00. I prefer gas bag setups because no water gets in when boat takes a dunk. On exhaust sytems there are all kinds of good ones out there but make sure you get one for a big bore engine they have a larger diameter stinger.

I want to stick with the metal round tanks. Just like the looks. I'm not going for a racer here just a fun boat. I'm just not a big fan of the bags.

It's official, I ordered My new hull this evening. After a great conversation with Tom from Expresscraft, I decided to go with the Expresscraft PHANTOM. I'm like a kid at Christmas I cant wait till I get it and open up the box lol. I ordered my clutch , Radio box, silver Aluminum velocity stack long, Aluminum fuel nozzle, and header. NOW I'M BROKE LOL. So by the time I get her I should be able to order the rest. Can't wait to see the beast..... Oh and I received my ZENOAH PUM290 this morning.
Thank you Tom, oh and thank the boss to.

With a clutch system that should make a great play boat! Did you get a water pump for your 290?
