ok, so the engine im getting is limiting the outdrives i have to choose from... I can use the trimax large (1727/G) which has an overall exterior extention of 5.9"

i really only want to use one rudder.

so my two options are #1 behind the prop; inline with the drive shaft, and #2 to the right of the prop.

behind the prop I found that the Hydro Rudder Maxi (1069) Overall length including rudder blade is 8.1"(207mm)

to the right of the prop the Hydro Rudder Midi (1068) 6.7" 170mm overall length

the trimax outdrive has a 150mm(5.9") outside shaft length and says overall is 160mm(6.3")

my question is...
If I use a beside the prop rudder, does it matter if the rudder is infront of, right beside, or slightly behind the outdrives prop nut "the very rear of the out drive"

not huge distances here, maybe a total of the lenght from the pivit point to the rear of the rudder blade either infront of or behind the prop yet ofset to the side of the prop several inches
