Servo twitching

I wish created the topic: Servo twitching

Hi guys. I'm new to RC boating and bought this nice Insane mono that was slightly used. When i tried it out the engine will not stay at full Throttle. engine goes from full all out to half Throttle.I thought it was a carb issue so i cleaned it and re-adjusted it. So today while adjust the carb needles i notice that my servos would "Twitch" when i was 15ft away TX from RX. My RX battery is full and my TX battery is at 10.9V (should be 12V). Is it possible that my Tx battery is too low? or could it be something else???

Best regards

could be
could be that servo is stuffed ....try another servo or switch leads with steer and if steer twitches you know it,s servo thats stuffed
could be rx battery ...i always throw away the 4 aa battery pack and use a rechargable 6volt nimh hump pack or simillar
could be picking up interferance from coil pack on motor...does it twitch when motor not running?...reroute leads and servos
could be a dodgy crystal.. Is it a old transmitter or 2.4ghz type?
Hope that helps..still could be somethig else but try suggestions and post result

Hi Monstrosity

I know that both servo are twitching. The Rx battery is a new pack. it's a LIFE nimh pack. my Transmitter is a 27Mhz Futuba. I didn't get a chance to try new batteries in my Transmitter, i will try this weekend. The boat with this same set up ran well for years. What is a Stuffed servo? AS for the Crystal i guess the only was to see if it's bad is to buy a new one??

Cheers!

wow 27mhz is a little behind the times, just about anything will set it off.now a day the 2.4 system is the way to go.fly sky has one (i think)for $39.95 and the reviews on it is pretty good.i dont think i have ever heard of a life nimh battery but who know it might be one.if you dont race the nimh batterys r prettey good(1600 mah hump)but a lot of racers have gone to a lipo batt.get you a new radio and a battery and then try it that should help ya.i had a 75mhz fm radio and the servos twitch and i switch to 2.4 and it went away

may have something to do with 27 mhz radio and interference from ignition system on motor i had a prob with a gas helli yrs ago and had to run the leads thru a ferrite suppression ring but still had probs intermittantly

a stuffed servo is a buggered servo ( Broken LOL )most servos have electronics in them to determine position and if has been damaged ( dropped, wet etc) just buy new they are cheaper then ghosting your boat into the rocks at full noise cause throttle stuck open lol

check if crystals broken by shaking and hearing a rattle or better yet get a 2.4 ghz radio and you wont regret it.You can use the same transmitter on a number of models just bind different RX to them ..much more reliable
Personally i wont buy Flysky i trust and use Futaba but then again when it's a few thousand dollars in some of my models i dont want to have a cheap tx/rx system to control it ( not saying they arn't good i use a couple on cheaper models Tug boat, foam gliders etc)
You can also set a failsafe on a good TX and set throttle to idle or kill engine if you run out of range/flat batt in TX or RX or any other loss of signal. Or you can get a failsafe that goes inline with your throttle servo lead as well
hopefully you sort it soon

Well i would like to thank you guys for your input on my servo twitching issue. I will be replacing my Transmitter to a Spektrum DX3C 2.4Ghz. Hope this will resolve the twitch and i will be able to see my modified Zenoha at a constant full throttle

Best regards

Hi Iwish

I wonder if you now have your new transmitter and problems all resolved.

Two years ago I had a similar problem with my Spektrum DX6i transmitter coupled with its Spektrum dual receiver. The throttle servo would twitch when moving the transmitter stick but it only twitched in the mid section (ie throttle about half open). And the twitching only happened when moving the transmitter stick.

I tried everything I could think of to isolate the cause of the problem. Then I tried Google.

That (cutting a long story short) revealed that my transmitter was in fact the subject of a product recall (and only those manufactured within a particular time period were affected). My UK distributor collected the unit, replaced the faulty Gimbal free of charge and my DX6i has worked faultlessly ever since.

Radio problems sometimes can be a pig to sort out. But as in my example, they aren’t always the result of a poor installation.

Food for thought perhaps?

Cheers
Craig
