I've been an rc enthusiast for a long time. Used to race rc cars, I currently fly planes and heli's, but I've never owned an rc boat. Until now.

I don't know if this was a good deal or not but I got this hull for $75, It's missing a bunch of stuff. Thought I'd start here for getting advice.

I have a ton of questions:

1) motors option: CY F273 is this a good motor? I'm weary of chinese knock offs but a buddy who is into boats is running one and really likes it. For $177.50 shipped, if it gets me through the summer with decent speed I will be happy.

2) Servos: what kind of servo's should I be running? How much torque do these boats require.

3) rx battery: what should I be running for a rx pack?

Any tips are greatly appreciated, I will be doing as much research as possible now.

Vern makes 2 that look the same one is 51 (more or less) and other is 45" u can see both here

I had a question regarding running the boat with the top on vs off. Is there any advantage and disadvantage to one or the other. And what would I have to do to prep the boat for running without a top?
