victory cat build...help

I'm new to the boat racing hobby. I purchased a popeye boat with a redline modded 29 from a friend. It ran good for a while then lost a needle bearing from wrispin that got into intake and the rest you know. I'm sending it back to redline to be renewed. Everyone around the pond runs boats like 45" or shorter. I have a brand new victory hull from rc hobbies and most are telling me its to big to compete. Question to you is....can I prove other wise? .I'm ready to begin the build so it will be ready for the engine when it comes back from redline. My question to you is...whats your advice on the whole set up in every detail? Is there an article i can find pertaining to setting this victory hull up to kick some butts? I really love the hull and I want to prove them all wrong. Sooo...can you please help?? Thanks guys

Generally the RTR type hulls coming equipped with stock engines are typically manufactured as "HIGH LIFT" types hulls that will get up on step and run fairly light on there feet under the modest power propelling them.

How hulls are classified as high lift vary pending hull style ...

A deep V will have EITHER a shallower V profile or Full Length Strakes ... OR BOTH !

A Cat hull a tall freeboard and large air trap under it.
Ride surfaces generally flatter and wider too.

These hulls when pushed faster with Modified engines inherently become unstable !!
They can be made / balanced to go like stink in a straight line, but generally have a hard time getting around the corners without tripping, stuffing or blowing off.

In the world of "RACE CLASS" hulls they have become very specialized to be able in running WOT all the way around a race course. Even more so this last year with the 29cc big bore engines adding even more power and torque into many hulls that already were running on the threshold of being over powered.

O' .... let me add if simply reading the best suggestions on the web, buying the latest go fast do dad was actually a productive way in kickin azz on those who invest the time in trial & error testing experience, your in for a rude awaking

Now that said ... Here some Loose General guidelines for "Go Fast Race Hulls"

C/G on MONO's 31-34% these days. CATS 32-38% pending hull.
RTR weights .... Monos 14-18# .... Cats 12-15# some heavier.
Speed required to be competitive .... Monos 52-55 MPH Cats 60-65mph
* While being able to keep WOT threw the corners !!
Hull lengths ... Monos @ 45-48" .... Cats @ 42-45"
Hull height ( Freeboard ) LOWER the BETTER
Frontal area and bulbous cowls at a minimum !! .... Bigger hole hull punches in the wind slower it's going to be.

More surface area in contact with water at speed ... slower it's going to be generally.

Knowledge is power ... WE wish you the best of luck kickin some non believers azz's :woohoo:
