Cat cornering

davidpaul created the topic: Cat cornering

I have a falcon cat with a RCMK evo fitted and want to know if anyone knows how to improve the cornering, she corners well at lower speeds but when pushing hard I can nearly drift her around the corners. I did read an article some time ago about fitting knife blades to the sponsons but I can't find it anymore.

AKA turn fins!

They dont have to be anything fancy but turn fins will grip in the turns helping prevent this sliding that your refering to.

Try a skegged strut before you try any turn fins

David,
That particular hull is notoriously bad for cornering. It is a very fast boat for going straight but really hard to make turn well. I would agree with the others about the necessity of a skegged strut. I would also recommend a 4" extended rudder assembly with a straight blade dual pickup rudder and go from there. If you work at anything enough you can make it work.

Can you put some pics of your set up?I am working on a hull with the same problem as you.I have went from a 1 5/8 rudder stand off,to 4" and now 6" with a skegged strut. But now i am looking at my prop and how it sticks off the back,And now when i look at it my strut sticks off 3/4" off the back so i am going to redrill the bracket and move it in to the hull with a 1/16 gap.And cut the tail off the strut, this puts the prop closer and i (think)it is going to keep the hull planed in the turns. This to me is like a leaver with my prop out back, closer the prop the harder for it to lift the back in a turn. With doing this mod i'll move my prop in a inch or so.

I've had a falcon myself and she turns on a dime with good control she was out fitted with a skegged and 4" off set rudder. This should help you get what your looking for.
