Cat barrel roll

smithi created the topic: Cat barrel roll

Hi guys. I fearly new to this amazing hobby. My problem is this, i know the boat is not a racing cat by a long shot, i really like the boat and would like to tweak her for max performance, straight line speed is great but damn the cornering sucks, turn to fast and she will do the barrel roll like she was born to do it. I would appreciate any advise in getting the set up right.

Why not take them fins off the bottom. Cats never need fins.

Just like Neil said I never seen Fins on a Cat before
maybe that could be the problem in your turns them fins
are hooking up in the turns.

Exactly ... the rear will 'slide' some but with fins its like having 3 rudders with 2 always going straight and in corners will 'fight' till one gives

usually a snap roll will follow  ... which is eaxactly what u have

JMO ... lose the fins

Ok, i will definitely give it a bash without fins. Sadly will only be able to try changes in 2 weeks time as i will be in Italy until 15 December. What changes to the cat will come about from moving the prop out from under the hull to flush with the back splash and extending the rudder to a spacing of say 100 - 150mm from prop to rudder. If I dont have all the terms correct please pardon me, like i said still new to the hobby.

Only change one thing at a time. You don't know if the changes did anything if you do several things at once. Try it without fins -- if need more 'hold' in corners go to a skeg strut.
But only change one thing at a time and test ...

Randy thank you, what you say makes 100% sense, will try without fins and post result. Again thanking everyone that commented. I have a lot to learn when it comes to setting up my valued cat. She is awesome on a straight run, almost a perfect lady
