ARRIVING SOON

Steve Seebold created the topic: ARRIVING SOON

I have been wanting some new engines for a ling time. Last Tuesday I finally broke down and ordered and ordered 2 Quickdraw Pioneer engines. I ordered a 26 and a 30.5.

The 26 is going to go in my Whiplash GV hydro and the 30.5 is going to go in a new Y6 mono that's been sitting on the shelf for about 5 1/2 years.

I'm hoping for great things with both boats.

I'll post pictures when they get here. Hopefully by the end of next week.

Hi Steve, Your going to like the Pioneers! My buddy has a Pioneer 26 in a Y6 that is ballistic! He also has a Pioneer 29.5 in a T44 Cat that is very fast! I recently put a Pioneer 29.5 in an F-41 Stryker that is stupid fast! Be careful setting the wide open throttle epa on the WYK33. Too tight and you will be replacing carb barrels because they will break. Good luck, Brian

I can hardly wait to get that Y6 set up with the 30.5. I think it's going to be scary fast. And when I run it in salt water, that's like running it on ball bearings.

I think the secret to not having major torque problems is not going to be in the engine, it's going to be in the prop.

I'm hoping they get here by the end of next week. I paid for them with a check, and I know he'll want to let it sit in his bank for a few days before he ships.

An ABC 2814/3 Chopper should get you going just fine with that motor. The 2814 really hauls the mail down the straights for me, but pulls down bad in the corners. I switched to a 2714/3 with the tips cupped and the problem was over. Then again, I run @ 5120ft!! Brian

Hey Brian, I haven't heard from you in a long time. You're right, the ABC props from Prop Works West would probably be really good choice for what I'm going to try to do, but I absolutely refuse to pay his prices for a prop for a model boat. I'll probably go through a bunch of props before I find the combination that works best for me, but I'll learn something along the way.

My ideal prop will give me mid 80 straight away speeds in my Y6 mono, not scrub any speed in the corners and let the boat accelerate like it's shot out of a cannon. I drove a boat like that in the mid 80's, but it had 5,000 horsepower, and all it was built to do was go in a straight line.

Yea Steve, I'm still alive, just not posting my valued opinions everywhere so much these days. I still have the prop balancer you made for me about 10yrs ago. Propworks West,, HA! I haven't bought anything from Brent since around 2008. I won't go into that dribble, but there are cheaper alternatives out there. I just picked up an ABC 2714/3 Chopper from Bob English AKA, G-force Hydros. He's been doing props for a few years now, and does good work for a better price. Shoot him an email and tell him what you want and ask for a price. He's about $10 to $15.00 cheaper than everyone else and he's an ABC dealer. I think your going to be happy once you see what the overlooked ABC props can do. Brian

Why not do the prop yourself?. That's the cheapest way though good props are well worth the cash. I guess propworks feels the same way about there props as you do about your hardware  . Im not trying to start anything Im just saying based on you recent sales rant I dont think youd let someone say " no way Im paying steve seebolds hardware prices" without a tongue lashing. Bob does some very nice props. If Im not mistaken he also has some real thunderboat boat experience. Seems a slight double standard. :)

Anyways how did you manage to get a 30.5 cc draw? Someone just said like 2 days ago they no longer make them I thought.Am I wacko or is this a different motor than the one suggest to the the supertest builder on MGB.

Edit: It was the 35 cc folks were speaking of. Please show photos of the mono .

Im wacko......... :silly:

I'll show pictures of the Y6 with a 30.5 engine as I make progress on it. I already have the outdrive (see below)

. Now I need to make the rudder and standoff. I am going to make a dual pick up set up with internal plumbing. Like this one.

I believe the 30.5 is a 28.5 with a 2mm stroker crank. Brian
