There are 3 lead teflon bushings in the outdrive. They are 1/4 inch I.D., 5/16 O.D and 3/8 inch long. There are 2 at the business end (where the prop goes) and one on the other end, If you'd like I can break one down and show you an exploded view, but you'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I'm hoping to have the new engines by the end of the week, and the Y6 ready to run by mid October. Material for the rudder standoffs came last Friday and the rudder material has been here for about 3 months.

I'm going to make the rudders from 7075 aluminum with dual water pick ups on both sides of the rudder.

I think youd save$$$ on production if youd follow the crowd and make youre own brass bushing sets. It would be alot cheaper than outsourcing the lead. You could make 6 and spend less that 2 dollars on the material. I remember what you said about wear and tear but also consider this : People run what they feel are nice props that are not balanced so forth and so on. Never can get a good picture of whats really happening there. An unbalanced prop will soon ruin the lead too

About the outdrives did you do the anodizing as well? If you do, what do you charge for the anodizing ?

TIA

Good morning Hugh. Your idea of using brass boshings is good with a couple of exceptions. You're correct in saying there is less that $2.00 worth of brass tubing on them, but you forgot about the labor and machine time required to flare the ends, drill the grease holes and the worst part of the whole project. Deburing them.

I have been told the brass bushings wear out quickly and need to be replaced often (3 or 4 times in a season). I have had guys tell me the Lead Teflon bushings in my drive will last as long as 3 seasons by just giving them a shot of grease after each heat or each time they bring the boat in off the water, and I sell a 3 pack of Lead Teflon bushings for $2.50 if they do need to be replaced. If you'd like one of my drives, I'll include an extra 3 pack of bushings. Problem is, I only have one drive left and that has been mounted on a new Y6 mono that's waiting for a new Quickdraw 30.5cc engine that I'm hoping will be here by the end of this week.

I have a couple of jobs to finish then I'm going to do another run of 50 drives. Then I'm going to start on running gear for other hull types.

I don't usually anodize my hardware because I have to do about 10 drives at a time when I do it because I have to pay a minimum charge for each color and it ain't cheap. And when I do anodize, I have to allow for the coating by making the holes and the threads oversize.

I have had a Jersey Speed Skiff for about 6 months and have done nothing with it. I ahe also had a T44 cat for 7 or 8 months, a Classic Thunderboat for 6 months, and a Whiplash GV that's had its 3rd or 4th birthday with no holed in it. It's time for me to start working on my own stuff again.

It's been 9 years since I had a serious racing season.

My wife has spent the last 12 years taking care of her parents. Now they are both gone and it's time for us to have a life again. Now it's time to her to have a life again and for me to do some stuff for me.

We bought a new 32 foot motorhome in January and next year, there are races from Southern California to Eastern Texas that will have my name on the heat sheets. Maybe even some Louisianna.

My wife has family in Oklahoma. Right smack in the middle of Tornado alley. NFW am I going to take the motorhome there.

NOW, let's go racin'.

"Oklahoma. Right smack in the middle of Tornado alley. NFW am I going to take the motorhome there."

lived in Norman for 6 years have many friends that were hit in Moore and Midwest city. Thank goodness the only losses were material. God bless those the lord called upon on as well.

I want to ask you some questions about your machine but I wont do it here. If you ever get the chance start a thread on the "tormach"? In the advanced section.

Theres no doubt you have to make time for yourself . Life/people will definitely thin you out.

Still I love Oklahoma. B) BOOMER SOONER

Steve here are the current SAW gas records . See Bob Austin's name anywhere :) ?
Also notice a Todd Andersons Homelite is in the record books. Butch clearly has the gas engines running good too.
Wish theyd chime in more but I guess they are too smart to get caught up in the BS and drama associated with the forums.

Bob Is no slouch on the props wasnt sure if you were aware how well people are running with his props.

You may also notice quite a few people do there own props and have had success. I wish I could have a peek into that truex rossi.

OK, I got word today that my engines shipped yesterday. Based on where they are coming from, they should be here tomorrow. I have a brand new Y6 mono waiting for the 30.5. The running gear is mounted, all I need to do is mount the engine, hook up the throttle and make the fuel tank.

i'm going to make a 12 oz. fuel tank out of aluminum bar stock

I got them. They showed up today. I forgot to order engine mounts, so they'll be here about next Friday. Then I can get to work getting everything together and make this baby run.
