Enfocer Super gator boats. What engine do they have and what mods can i make?

Gulf Coast created the topic: Enfocer Super gator boats. What engine do they have and what mods can i make?

Hello, new here. I just got two Gators 47", I think they are zen g230 engines? I rebuilt the carbs and replaced all the servos. they run good. I was looking for any mods I can make? I put a 78mm prop on one that helped it was 75mm same pitch. I have seen the mods on the g26. but my jug looks like it came from the factory with those port mods already? The model on the tag says Super Gator the ser.# is ktr150r329114. Any info on the motor and boat would be great Thanks Rob

Welcome
Problem is with most boats is no one keeps them stock (well not really a problem it's part of the hobby)
So for most of us here if you show us pictures of what you have it is usually easier to help answer any questions

There is 54 pages on Enforcer boats at RCU as well www.rcuniverse.com/forum/speed...-thread-54.html

Have fun

Cheers

Hi Rob, When the boats come from WHH (Warehouse Hobbies) as a RTR they would come with 3 options a stock G260PUM or a M5 or a M6 the M6 is a ported engine. You would get more info from WHH forum Although Bonzi sports has purchased WHH and enforcer boat they know the history of the haul and maybe the engine. I have been told that Tony jr works for Daniel Hofman

Thank you. I will try and post some Pics. I just picked up a Mantaray 55" water cooled also. Leaks water and I think the coil is going bad, shuts down when warm.

Yep the first two boats are older. that's why I was looking to see if anyone knew anything about them. Can't find much on the web? The Montaray is newer I guess. lol. I have talked to Bonzi not real impressed. I own a lawn mower shop in Fl. I have ported 2 strokes for gopeds etc. The ports on the 2 older ones look like the port job in a video on here of a g26 Zenoah already done?

The engine looks like the "homelite" version before the zenoah series. I also think it's the 30cc version with the "big bore" carb.

Yes is has the back plate like a homelite. I thought the same. I don't like them. I prolly have 50 blown up weedeaters out back for parts! LOL

The mantaray/ water cooled has great compression, for a homelite. I rebuilt the carb and it runs ok till it gets hot. I loose spark. Coil no big. Big bore carb? looks normal to me? I can't get good low end throttle response no matter how I adjust the low end needle. I think the cyl. is scored. Prolly why the coil is bad? it over heated.

This is information from the homelite forum

General settings for a "Big Bore" carburetor are:
High Needle: 1,1/2 turn out to start
Low Needle: 1 to 1,1/4 turn out to start

You are absolutely correct, there are many Enforcer owners still to this day with Homelite engines powering their boats. For the record we manufactured with Homelite from 1986 - 2001 and sold, ready....over 10,000 Hoimelite powered boats.
This means I will be haunted for many years to come!!!! All kidding aside, when Homelite went out of business it was time to look for a new direction. Even when Ryobi picked up the name and some pieces, too many changes were made rendering them no longer a good candidate for us to use.
Enjoy them for as long as you can, and know that I did design our new and own XForce engines to be easy power replacements if the time comes."

Here is more from Tony
"Tony Castronovo
Most of the Homlites even before our Hybrid series were equipped with the CA5000 carburetor, very similar in design to the WT257, only a better low-mid metering circuit and a internal acceleration pump. Most of the carbs used today are in similar nature with the needle adjustments closely mirrored.
General settings for a "Big Bore" carburetor are:
High Needle: 1,1/2 turn out to start
Low Needle: 1 to 1,1/4 turn out to start
So you guys know the word origin "Big Bore" by real definition was a word I chose to describe the WT257 back in 1984, when I first discovered this carburetor. It's initial use was from a 50cc engine (backpack blower), and after performing engine work to then the Mitsubishi 25CC engines, we needed a larger carburetor to match the engine modifications.
Since there was no such thing of Gasoline model boating outside of, then our fairly new company, it was very difficult to sell the new concept of a gas boat, not to mention an aftermarket part.
The Big Bore carburetor was actually our first aftermarket part. I had to flavor it up by providing name recognition. My secondary schooling for 2 years was in marketing, and there I had a great teacher, who was passionate to the cause, and I learned allot from him, ( whom I have contacted on Facebook a few months back to thank. ) Sometimes that needs to be done by many of us...
Back to the story... The fact that the carburetor opening on the WT257 was 0.501" compared to that of a stock 23cc carburetor at 0.375", provided me the differential for a name.
I was building and racing Formula Vee ( VW powered open wheel cars) at that time for a hobby. Aftermarket VW products were made by companies like, Bug Pack for instance. They sold several large bore cylinder kits to up the cc's of a VW type 1 engine. Needless to say they were marketed under the name, "Big Bore Kits".
Larger carburetor opening (bore) "Bigger Bore" ? ... "Big Bore Carburetor". It sounded good to me, and proved to make it's name in gas model boating almost 30 years later. Almost like Kleenex, only without the financial compensation.
Now you all know. Isn't it funny how simple the explanation of things are, and how so much confusion can be created along the way?
Thought this would be fun to share because as I am building another VW sand rail at this time, I called Bug Pack yesterday and ordered a "Big Bore" cylinder kit for my new engine, with a smile.
