This is a prop I do from a VooDoo 8214. I do a lot of mods to them and sell them as a prop called a Fueler. It is my favorite F-41 cat prop for heat racing. Today I did one of the new 440C revenge series 8214 props. You think the super expensive CO-CR are sharp. This new metal VooDoo is using can be made like a razor blade. In this photo you can see the finished prop and my thumb. All I was doing was wiping off the prop when I finished it and it went through the rag and into my thumb before I even knew what was happening. Wow these new props are something else. The other VooDoo 17-4 props I could bar cut on my milling machine. Not these. I burned up my bit and hardly made a mark on the blade. The metal is harder than the end mill that cuts through the 17-4 props like butter!
There is no way out, future misfortune is inevitable , bloody props , best prop guy , you can't beat him afford , Bob doing his job well all the time , thanks for your props man ,

Any of the "super alloys" such as CoCr, PH stainless steels or 440C stainless steel can be easily cut with carbide tooling. PH stainless steels & 400 series stainless steels should be annealed before working. The photo shows a CC 1/3 CoCR propeller that has been bar cut with a 1/4" ball nose carbide end mill. The carbide tooling & the fixture holding the propeller must be very rigid.
