newton540 created the topic: Ballantine?

Hello, I am new to the forum. I am lookign into purchasing a ballantine .62 cc boat. It looks like it is about 60". I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback with this. I have not ownered a boat in a while and I want to make sure I am making the right decision. They are asking 800 for everything. JR3 receiver looks to be a 9/10. Any help or advice???

Do you have a link, or can you post the ad so we can see? I remember Rich building some of these...they were nice. Price sounds reasonable, but would have to see to have a better idea.

Do you have an email address that I can send you the pictures to? I also noticed it is a .62cc, why a .62? Most of the boats i See or .30's or so....

Ballantine was watercooling G62s for bigger boats. There aren't that many of them out there. They are modified airplane engines. Not the fastest but loads of torque. This kind of boat would be a great rough water play boat. You can send pictures to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Looks like a nice boat in good shape, from what I can see. I would guess about 60" also. Should handle some pretty big chop...maybe up to about 10" or so. The only thing to keep in mind would be support for the motor. ie: many of the parts were custom machined by Ballantine, and they are no longer in business...but all in all looks like a fair deal.

iw as told, which may or may not be true that the parts are interchangable with the GS62?

Most of the parts should be, but some are custom machined for sure...cylinder, cooling cap, flywheel, possibly a flywheel adaptor...maybe other parts too... I'm not 100% certain of all the modified parts. Jimmy Geiger might chime in here and give you more information. He is a member here and I know he has done some...can possibly still do some parts for them.
