Electric retriever

IMPBA3548 created the topic: Electric retriever

The little Dumas DV10 that I did a couple of years back is about worn out! It has some wood separation etc so its been retired to backup status.
The new one is a Hammer electric boat, the thing runs very fast, and that with a deep sea bait cast reel from Walmart with plenty of line is a winning combo for retrieve service!
I installed a spektrum radio system in it so there is no interference to others or myself when using it, I sealed the radio box seal with some silicone as it does leak some, put extra flotation in the rear of the boat and a pool noodle type bumper on the rear of it to reduce paint damage on the retrieved boat etc and it provides more floatation. It is in regular service with about 100 retrieves so far. Kenny Hildreth brought one to the lake one day and it took off from there. We have 5 or 6 of them in service every sunday.
If there is any interest I can take some pics and I also need to make a video, seeing is believing!

Marc,
These are popular here thats for sure, in my case I have a bad case of arthritis and other infirmities and its much les physical than an aluminum boat and motor. We never bring out the boat and motor unless its a race situation.
I will work on the pics and post them here.

thanks

Mike,

Use the "select image file to attach" option...the second one, "select file to attach" is for files only. First one is for images... should work with .gif and .jpg.

I use a wire on the rudder to keep the line from getting in the prop.
The hole in the nose is to drain any water that gets in during a retrieve.
The foam is from Walmart, sections of a Bed mat from the camping department.
The Taped slots in the radio box are for removing moisture if any gets in.
The spektrum antenna was installed in the center of the box, as the original leaves a whole lot to be desired!
I cut a hole for the on off switch in the cover as I usually tape it down to keep water out.
All the parts are available for repairs if needed.
I use a 34 dollar salt water reel from walmart with 600 yards of kevlar line, the reel needs to be filled up as there is too much cranking otherwise.
I want to change out the switch to a waterproof toggle as the one thats on there isnt the best.
Its kind of a store bought rig but does need a bit of customizing.
In its present form its used every sunday, some things need some improvement but in due time..

pretty cool. We've had good success down here using a ZigZagRacer. Run out to dead boat, circle around and reel it in.
