Hey guys, when you install a copper head gasket do you coat it with anything? permatex copper spray a gasket or nothing at all. thanks in advance for info

The good copper gaskets are made of dead soft copper (like the ones CC Racing sell) these do not require any sealant. I have used others that were much harder copper and I used a thin layer of gasket maker (like Permatex) to ensure a good seal.

On my "real" engines with copper head gaskets, i coat them with Hylomar from Permatex. Never really thought about trying it on the copper gaskets for these little motors.

Just for added ins. You can coat the copper gasket. I use a thin coat of hi-temp silicone on my engine builds. Butch T....:cheer:
