Hydro

Has anyone run the 1/8 hydro by proboat? We have one up here and when it runs it is always trying to pick up the left side!In stock form it has the rudder on the left side of the prop, and the turn fin is on the right sponson.Any thoughts on why,and how to fix it?There are no adjustments on the hardware everything is bolted solid!

I've seen the boat run and it was not impressive. I don't believe it is possible to move the engine enough to correct the CG. It may have deliberately been designed to be a 30 to 40 mph boat. Similar gas hydros go over 60 mph and even thunderboats are in the mid 50s.

Lifting of the left sponson is caused by the motor's torque turning the prop to the right. Some manufacturers have you weight the left side sponson down across from the motor by a pound or more. But -like Lohring said - the CG adjustment has to be there to allow for the boat to run with the proper attitude. I've never seen the 1/8 Bud from Proboat, but it sounds like there's little adjustment available. Adding weight may help, but it may make it slower or even unmanageable. JMO
