What new radio should i use?

Piratefish created the topic: What new radio should i use?

I have an old futaba T3pdf radio. I am thinking about buying a new radio so i can upgrade to the 2.4. What are boaters using? Or can i up grade my current one to 2.4?( I dont think i can) I also was told that 2.4 didn't work on water cause the singal bounced off the water. I was told by one manufacturer that is a myth.
I have 2 boats and i am building a third (Seaducer Hydro) and have future plans to build a Rigger, so i want something that can handle and store info for atleast four boats.

Thanks

Dave

If you search the forum you'll find lots of info. Pretty much what i gathered, most boaters are using Futaba FASST system. I just bought a Futaba 3PKS and it works great. Good luck!

I run a Futaba Faast, never been happier, no issues whatsoever.

I've run the 2.4 radios since 2005 when the first Spectrum modules came out. I converted my Futaba 3PK to 2.4 last year and have had excellent results. The radios have shorter range than 75 MHz radios. This has not been a problem in heat racing. I run 5 cell receiver packs and get the antennas as high as I can. However, my thunderboat has the antenna under the deck with no bad effects.
