I personally run a Airtonics (Sanwa) M11 with a spektrum pro module. I only use spektrum pro receivers now with the capacitor installed to stop any low voltage cutoffs from excess servo draw. I have used a standard spektrum receiver, but did have issues with reception with it and do not recommend the standard spektrum setup.

my friend runs the JR XS3 which if bought locally will have the C tick (which means it has been inspected in Australia for compliance with Australian laws). He has had no issues and having owned one myself in the past they are a good unit. the plus with them is you can change the frequency quite easily if you have a conflict with another user at the pond.

you are correct about not being able to use 75 mhz in Australia. only 27 & 40 mhz for general purpose, 36 mhz for air and water and 2.4 ghz is also for general purpose.

I know people do favour the faast system over the spektrum one, but if set up correctly spektrum does work.

I strongly recomend getting the best you can afford, there's no point having a runaway boat that can cost you money in a damaged boat as well as hurt an innocent bystander if it hits them at speed.
