Which Cat Hull

RUMBUM created the topic: Which Cat Hull

I'm Plning on getting a new cat for next year events.
Have 3 hulls in mind:

1.Speedfreek
2.AM Conquest
3.Blast Cat 40

Which one runs better in rough water, hadding and averg top speed. I know there some other hulls but would like the info on the above.

Hi

Sorry I can only tell you that the seaducer cat setup correctly is unbeatable in rough water.

I agree that the Seaducer is a GREAT rough water boat. You won't like it for playing alone on mirror like water, but in rough stuff it's hard to beat.

Out of the 3 you mentioned, I would go with a Conquest with strut mounted inside the transom. I am currently running one and love it! The other two are quite similar in performance I think. There could be a waiting list on the Blast Cat depending on who you order it from...not sure how fast you can get a Speedfreak. AM usually will dish them out pretty fast. The layup is lighter on the AM though. I know you didn't ask about Seaducers, but just for the record that hull is also built VERY solid.

Make sure to send us pics of your boat once you decide!

Thanks for the info know i have naroed it down to the am conquest or the blastcat being the blastcat in the lead (lol) I been told that the conquest is a bit faster than the blastcat but the bc is more stable?

Marc saw your build very nice and clean. Know whats the difrens with the strut in the hull ans out of the hull, and do you have to remove the radio bax everytime you do a strut ajustemnt?

Blast Cat is a good hull, no doubt about it.

As for the strut inside transom, it's to get the prop as close as possible to the hull...seems to make this boat less prone to blow-overs. Yes, I do have to remove the radio box for strut adjustments...that's why I used the setup with quick mounts on the box.

Dont rule out the AC R42. There are some guys getting them dialed in pretty good from the racing results recently.
I will be building a R42 for review next week so I will have some hands on thoughts soon.

We just raced the Conquest in London at the Northern Nats (the Conquest reviewed here on Modelgasboats.com). Gary Owens from Texas ran it and finished second overall with 3 perfect runs and one DNS because of collet coming loose. Were it not for the collet issue, he would have gotten 1rst overall. The boat ran VERY fast and stable. It is going to Texas now. :)
