Cooling a Zenoah G260PUM w/o clutch

Hello Poolshark here, I'm a newbe to boat racing. Here's my story, I have a Easy Vee from Zipkits with a Zenoah 26pum w/o clutch, American RC Steel pipe. I cool it with a Walbro water pump pulling the pulse off the intake manifold, water intake off the rudder. The water flows through the head, then, through the exhaust flange. Water pisses out the side about 3\". OK, that's the basic setup I have. If, more info needed please ask.
My question is? Why is the Walbro water pump used for clutched systems when it pulls the pulse off the engine any different, then, my setup w/o clutch? What about pulling the pulse off the clutch hosing? Which, I don,t have. I do get some oil going to the walbro water pump through the intake manifold pulse. No, milky stuff, if you know what I mean.

Hi:unsure:

Let me get this straight you are not using the clutch system and are cooling with a walbro pump. If this is so there is no need for you to use the pump. Most of us just have the water pickup on the rudder to the head and then thru the exhaust coupler and to outlet. Forward momentum will give you the pressure you need for cooling. The pump should be used with the clutch system because you have the chance that your boat has the chance to just sit still and idle.

First off Poolshark .... Welcome to MGB

Dave has pretty much spelled it out, sitting still with a clutched boat and idling you get NO cooling unless pump equipped.

But direct drive soon as boat hits the water it is put in motion forcing water threw the cooling system ... So, no pump required.

bj55owner here, I also have a question about clutches that relates. I have a Blackjack 55 with a modded bonzi clutch... I want to take the clutch assembly off and the water pump out, is there a special tool that I need to get the clutch shoes off? I can't figure it out and I have looked everywhere online. Please let me know.

thanks.

By clutch shoes I take it you are talking about the entire assembly that is mounted to the output end of the crankshaft. I don't have the Bonzi clutch, but most are designed pretty much the same way. What I do is take the shoes and springs off by removing the 2 screws holding them on. Then you are left with the piece on the crankshaft. The ones I've seen were all alum with like 2 ears where the bolts for the shoes go. This piece is tapered to fit the tapered end of the crank. You can use a two leg puller that will pull on the piece while pushing on the center screw... back out the center screw some first though. I like to heat up the alum piece a bit with a torch first..it will expand a bit and help release from the steel crank. Sometimes that's all that's required to get them off. Of course the screw has to be removed! :) Show pics of your clutch if what I'm saying doesn't make sense. Maybe it's different.
