Props

Hi Guys

Can anyone please tell me the differance between a cleaver and chopper prop,as I would like to fit an ABC 2714/3 prop to my (BLADE Chinese) deep vee boat with a Zenoah motor.

Scott will probably be able to answer your question...he is knows the ABC props well. I am not really certain what the difference is. I'm sure he will chime in.

The CLEVER style props look like the name imply s .... Blades look like a 1/2 circle attached too a straight spine at trailing edge having pointed tips. The tongue area protrudes forward of drive dog. Most have 10* or less of rake.

The CHOPPER style props look similar ... But the blade contour is a tad elliptical, tips are heavily rounded, spine/trailing edge has some degree of reflex (Backward bend) Tongue is not as long and about equal with drive dog. Rake is @10* or a tad more.

Hi Guys

Thank's for the info. Is one better than the other, or just a different design?

I have been running the CLEVER style for years with very good results. Keep in mind I do not race my boats. I recently bought a Round Ear or Chopper style both are 7020/3.( I m running a QD35cc in a Stryker Hydro) The only difference I can tell is the Round Ear seems to hold the RPMS through the turns better.
