In my retirement. YUK

Steve Seebold created the topic: In my retirement. YUK

I closed my CNC machine shop last January after I had a 5 way coronary bypass and a aortic valve replacement, but I just couldn't stay away from some kind of machining. I did some programming for my brother about 6 months ago, and as payment, he gave me what I always thought was a toy machine. Compared to what I had, it was a toy. Last week I spent a couple of days at his shop and he showed me what these "little" machines would to. It will do exactly what my 15 horsepower machines would do, it just tales a little longer. I'm retired now and I have nothing but time on my hands, so why not. My wife is not too keen on the idea of me making parts in my garage, but at least I'm not out chasing women or sitting in a bar.

Now I can start making my outdrives again and I have lots of other ideas as well. I have a new T-BAR that is really trick looking, but due to the amount of work in it, it will be a little on the expensive side.

My offer to help anyone who has a CNC and doesn't understand how to program it still stands.

Hey Marc,

You can find them on e-bay for $3,000.00 to $5,000.00. This machins is similiar to the Sherline except the Sherline weighs about 70 pounds. The Dynamite weighs a little over 300 pounds. And this one has a 4th (rotary) axis so I can make rudders without the need for a tapered endmill.

Marc,

You most likely have the same drawbacks that I had when I was in my 30's. "KIDS"

I gave up model boating when my kids were about 6 and 3 and didn't get back till they were like 30 and 27. A lot changed in that time.

I'm at that point right now and finding it very difficult to juggle everything...girls are 8 and 5.

Enjoy them while they're young Marc, they grow up way to fast. My 3 year old son is now 36 and has a 10 and 12 year old. Both girls. I retired so I could be around to watch (help) them grow up.
