always having real boats, and being involved with RC racing already (drag cars), being attracted to rc boats just sorta came natural when i decided not to run cars anymore.

I ran nitro for a long time, and finally got tired of so many problems, and having to carry around so much stuff for them and got into gas boats.

I raced nitro back in the late 60's and early 70's. In 1975 I sold all my boats to raise my family. In 1990, my family was raised and gone (2 sons and a wife [she left me too]) so I had no reason not to get back on to boating. After a little research, I soon learned that nitro had gotten prohibitively expensive, but these new gas boats were already going faster than the nitro boats of the 70's. So here I am. I started with one Insane mono, now I have 4 Y6 mono's, one FeeBuck classic thunderboat and a fiberglass Whiplash. The Whiplash I'll be pickikg up today.

It was a progression for me. From cars to boats. I saw a real cool boat in the hobby store one day and picked it up. It was down hill from there.

In the very early 1970's my older sister got married, her now Father in Law was an avid modeler, Well being now family and a @13 year old kid, I was very drawn into his shop of toys !!

Was not to long and he offered me a deal any 13 year old would JUMP on, a like new Dumas SkiDaddle 60 with an ENYA 60 engine ready to run. With his guidance and instructions included.

Played with it and a few smaller boats over the next 5-6 years or so then found wine women and song :dance2:

Move ahead to @ 1986 and a friend who I had known for a few years found out I once ran R/C boats and said Hey, I have one would you like to go play with it sometime. Still had the SK 60, pulled it out of mothballs and ran it again for a year or less quickly discovering the evolution of the hobby had that boat in the stone age. Well the rest is obsession history :dance2:

I have been doing boats since I was 14 or 15. (soon to be 37) All nitro up until 2001-2002. Built air boats, at first then scratch built hydros, then moved into kit tunnels, then FG boats and then started seeing the potential in gas boats...they were starting to move along quite well so I decided to give them a try and have been loving them ever since. :)

Of course like most R/Cers I also did and still do other RC stuff. I still play with cars and planes a bit sometimes. Usually buy a 4wd buggy or truck to play with during the winter in the snow! I'm trying not to develop another addiction by trying helis!

I started modeling at about age 13 building a Sterling Ringmaster control line plane with a Fox 35 stunt motor in it. I was flying it and started to get dizzy and got to close to the power lines. I let go just in time to see the metal control line wires lite up like little glow snakes!!! That coulda hurt.:dash: Ive done RC planes most my life and truck/helicopters. I somehow came upon Jims dock and saw the thunderboats and built my first one the Gilmore Red Lion from Newton plans. I met Ken Olson who also lives here on the dock and he helped me get started to.. I love the boats and planes still to but when the plane crashes it is definately toast! So i race the boats mostly now. Tom:dance2:
