MUFFLERS

i made a couple mufflers one like the one in the how to here and one that i've seen before. has anyone ever tried the two and found the difference if any?

The one on the right looks like the one I did an article on on this website. The one on the left looks like it will redirect flow through the holes in the tube then out the holes in the back. If I had to take a guess I would say the one on the left might be quieter. My only concern would be to make sure that the surface area of all the holes equals to, or is more that the surface area of the main tube so as to not create too much backpressure. A little bit of backpressure can actually be advantageous in some instances, but too much will generate excessive heat in the engine and can be harmful. Try them out and let us know what your findings are! :drinks:

i measured the stinger and it's 1/2" and each one of the muffler holes are 1/4". i think i'm good. both of them have a fair amount of steel wool in them too. that muffler is the one you did on here. thanks for the help!

* Keep in mind that the steel wool will eventually become saturated with oil. That is the nice thing about mufflers that can be disassembled, you can change out the packing. They actually work very well without any packing at all also!

well i ruffed it out and it's $2 for the wd40,$3 for the copper pipe,average maybe $4 for the brazing wire, $1 for the steel wool, and my time, i can replace these all day. like i said before thank you for the step by step.
